Did you get called out for talking too loudly by your grade school teacher?
She might have said something like, “Timmy quiet down, you are being too loud.”
Or “use your inside tone… your voice carries.”
Mrs. Berry was right then, and her wisdom still stands true today.
Your voice does carry.
More than just syllables and sounds, our speech reveals the weight of our thoughts and intentions.
Over the past decade or so home builders have gotten a little too loud and noisy.
That’s understandable.
Seems like hardly anyone is listening, and the only thing left to do is yell.
Let’s not forget that there are others who reside outside of our private housing bubble world.
Real people, with real lives, and most with daily challenges to face on their own.
They seek understanding from peers, and a sense of security, like you.
Some have found peace by turning to online forums and social networks to vent, and to feel accepted.
But alas, online privacy does not exist.
Others are listening to everything being said, even what is spoken when no one is suppose to be paying attention.
Likewise, customers are listening to how our business plays with others, and watching for the words we choose, and deciding whether are not to engage in conversation (and do business) with us.
That’s okay.
Because now we can listen to how our customers “play” with others too!
Social media brings a new meaning to the term “watch your mouth.”
